“Resolve” May the lives remembered, the deeds recognized, and the spirit reawakened be eternal beacons, that reaffirm respect for life, strengthen our “resolve” to preserve freedom, and inspire an end to hated ignorance and intolerance.
As Americans gather every year on September 11, we join to honor the memory of those who perished on 9/11. We observe a moment of silence as a tribute to those we lost and as a symbol of the empty places left behind in the hearts of those still living.
The morning of Septemer11, 2001 was, as many would observe, strikingly clear, the sky so blue, what airline pilots call 'severe clear' seemingly infinite visibility, it made the subsequent events that much more jarring,
No one knew they had signed on for heroism when they boarded those planes or the men and women who went to work on that fearful day - though we do know of the valiant responses of firefighters, policemen, and first responders along with other individuals who risked or sacrificed their lives to aid and rescue other, both on September 11th and in the days and weeks afterward.
We will also remember the lives of our Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, airmen, and Coast Guardsmen lost in the Global War on Terror in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other areas of the world. Defending our FREEDOM
After all, to remember may not just mean to grieve; it may also mean to harbor a vision of securing justice or vengeance long after it is time to put the guns away. On September 11th, do your part to honor those we lost by reflecting, remembering, reconnecting, reclaiming, and rebuilding the day through a legacy of giving back.
